Interview
TAD MOROSE (English Version - 2013) - Christer "Krunt" Andersson (Guitar)
After a long period, TAD MOROSE is finally back in town! Christer “Krunt” Andersson came into Paris to explain us what happened during these years and to talk about their brand new album “Revenant”.
SBM: Hello Christer, and thank you for giving me a little piece of your time. How do you fell now that the album has been released and what’s your feeling about the work you’ve done on it?
Christer: It’s very nice that the album’s been released.
Your latest album “Modus Vivendi” was released ten years ago, so have you chosen the title “Revenant” because of this?
Yeah a little bit… We thought that “Revenant” would be a perfect title for the album; it’s a kind of “We’re back from the dead”! (Laugh)
And have you work differently on this record? And how do you work all together?
Well the songwriting has been the same, everybody contributes to the songwriting and then we put the songs together and we go to the rehearsal studio with the band and rearrange the songs left. The recording process on “Revenant” is quite different compared to the other albums because we recorded it all by ourselves with our own studio stuff.
It took about three years to record it; we lost audio files on our computers, the computers crashed or whatever! (Laugh)
Yeah not cool!
And have your influences evolved during this period, and can you quote some of them?
I don’t think so, I think we still listen to the same music, but perhaps everything around can influence you in a way… It’s been a very hard work trying to get this album and released, so that also in a way influenced us in this angry sound or whatever.
Some songs are real blasts, with high speed riffs, like “Beneath a Veil of Crying Souls” or “Babylon”, very powerful songs with a great work from Ronny on vocals. How have you chosen him?
Because we needed a new singer (Laugh) and also because I know Ronny for years and we always thought he was a very good singer. So we asked him if he wanted to join us and he did a tremendous work on the album.
Do you have any ideas for another album yet?
Yes we have some songs in work, but it won’t take ten years for the next album! (Laugh)
Yeah we hope so! (Laugh)
If you stare at the years that have passed, how would you describe TAD MOROSE’s evolution during these 23 years?
Well I don’t know… We just do what feels good to us… (Laugh)
It’s a very long time, have you think about an anniversary event or a live DVD or stuff like that?
Yeah we’ve been around since 91, so perhaps for our 25 anniversary we’ll do a live DVD or whatever I don’t know! (Laugh)
And will we have the chance to see you on tour during 2014?
Yeah the band is discussing with a booking agency so of course there will be shows and tours and festivals or whatever during 2014. We’re looking forward to play the new songs live.
Ok so let’s talk now a little bit about “Inmoria”, the band you played in during TAD MOROSE’s break. Can you tell us a little bit more about it?
Yeah Danne Eriksson is the main guy behind Inmoria, it’s pretty much his baby. Danne played the drums on the first TAD MOROSE album and then he quitted the band and the music scene. But a couple of years ago, five or six years, he started turning around with keyboards, writing a couple of songs and he asked me if I wanted to come down to the studio to record some guitars. After that we had a completely live band, so we went on tour and released two albums so far.
You surely noticed it’s pretty much the same guys in Inmoria and TAD MOROSE, but the main difference is that Inmoria is Danne’s baby, he writes all the music, but it’s pretty nice what happened, it was nice to go out and play live with Inmoria because during those days, not much things happened with TAD MOROSE so it was nice to go out and have some gigs on stage.
Will you go on with Inmoria?
Yeah actually the songs for the next Inmoria’s album have been written so we just need to find the time to record it.
Do you consider Inmoria as a kind of TAD MOROSE 2.0?
I don’t know, TAD MOROSE’s my main thing anyway, so Inmoria has to be something I do when I have the time to do it, so TAD MOROSE’s the main thing and has always been. And Danne is a very nice friend so it’s cool to be both bands.
Well I guess we’ve reached the end, so I let you the final words if you want to say something to the French fans or if you want to conclude?
Well I hope that everybody will love “Revenant”, and remember that whenever you listen to it: play it loud!
Ok message will be delivered!
Thank you again for your time! Have a nice day and see you on tour!
Yeah see you too! Take care and thank you! Bye!
Bye!
