Interview
TRICK OR TREAT (English Version - 2016) - Ale Conti (vocals)
Even busy as hell, the nice and funny Ale Conti took some time to answer to our questions, this between live shows etc.
How are you doing’ since we catch up during the Rhapsody tour earlier this year?!
-Everything is alright! always very busy of course hahaha
A lot of new things happened for this new album. New guitar player, new label and four singles released! Incredible isn’t it?!
-Yes , Luca Cabri left the band two years ago and now, I can tell you that with new guitarist Luca Venturelli, we have found again the right spirit and energy! Also the passage to Frontiers records is another big step for us ..
they are working very well, we are very happy about it..
My first feeling while listening to this album is that we can easily feel the maturity the band took during these four years. We can feel it through the sound and the production.
-yes, we have entrusted the production (as usual) to Simone Mularoni of domination studios, this gave a sort of continuity to our sound ..
for the compositions, we worked for a long time to get what we wanted .. write a concept it's not easy at all, but it gave us a lot of satisfaction!
The second point is about you. You’re singing in new ways which are really cool and surprising. Do you thing that being in a band like Rhapsody helped you to be more confident and pushed you to try a lot of new things even if you know that you’re a versatile singer?!
-Many thanks! singing with rhapsody gave me the possibility to stay several days in the studio and a few months on tour, singing every night ..
I tried to understand as much as possible from my voice, how to preserve it and how to use new “shades”.. I'm glad that you heard it! ..ahhaa
Let’s talk about some songs now. Of course we’re going to start with “United” which certainly the best song you wrote. Can you tell us more about how you think about it? Did you already though about Tony while writing that song?
-absolutely, not only have I thought of Tony, but I was inspired (vaguely);) to the compositions of Sonata Arctica ...
we were on tour with them for a month, and we learned a lot .. We have a close friendship with the guys in the band, and having Tony as a guest is a great satisfaction!
What about “Efrafa” which sounds a little bit like “Halloween” from Helloween. The feeling, the sounds and even the choirs made me feels that.
-Ahahah you're a very expert listener!
We searched for something “Horror” for the intro of “Efrafa”...a sound inspired that can remind to Nightmare to elm street theme for example ..ahahah
One of the other songs that interested me is “The Showdown” with its eleven minutes length. Made in a Rhapsody vein with the atmosphere, the structure; you made it great. Once more, Luca’s not far away (laughs).
Ahaha it's not my fault!!ahah, Guido wrote that song! but it's one of my favorite.. it's the ending chapter with the final battle..so you can understand that we wanted something..epic!
Then we have “Cloudrider”, the song which the main one in the funny Trick Or Treat vein.
Yes, I can say that “cloudrider” is the “trick or treat's manifesto” actually..ahahah
Your video clip “The great escape” is simply amazing. Keeping the funny stuff with the costumes, but going beyond expectations with its release. Who decided to make it that way?
We decided all together 4 yers ago..is the ending part of the “rabbits' hill” videoclip of the old album..same staf, same director..we're very satisfied!
A few shows for Trick or Treat are already announced, but you’re going to be on tour again with Rhapsody in September. Do you have a plan for touring Europe with the trickies yet? Can we expect you to come to France to have fun again?
Of course, we are planning the dates right now, we should start in March for the European tour, of course we'll play also in France
We’re reaching the end of the interview, thanks again for taking the time to answer to my questions. I do hope to see you soon my friend; some words for our readers?
Always a great pleasure, Lionel!, a big hug to all, hope to see you soon during next tour!!!!!
